(St. Bernard's graduation)

St. Bernard's graduation will have a "pre-commencement concert" this year. Arriving guests will hear an "Italian style" march by a Hungarian composer as the band starts at 6:00 with Florentiner March by Julius Fucik. Two medleys will follow: first, a salute to "Ol' Blue Eyes," featuring Witchcraft, Mack the Knife, Love and Marriage, My Way and the theme from New York, New York; second, a salute to Count Basie, including April in Paris, Li'l Darling, and Jumpin' at the Woodside. Don't Cry for Me Argentina, from EVITA, will be followed by César Franck's immortal Panis Angelicus. Ralph Vaughan Williams's Flourish for Wind Band will serve as a prelude, and then the procession will begin at 6:30 with Christoph Bach (1835 - 1927), his majestic Marche Noble, arranged by Mayhew Lake. The graduates will then continue their entry to Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. The recession is particularly fitting for a Catholic high school, and includes Daniel Kovats Festive Processional, which is based on Now Thank We All Our God, and Vaughan Williams Sine Nomine (For All the Saints)..
