Program Notes
Concert # 100
Sunday
August 17th, 1997
3:00 p.m
At the Bandstand
The Band's 100th concert will be an event to remember, with lots of great music. Sousa's Liberty Bell, for example, will set the tone. The Roaring Twenties is a Dixie-esque medley of Ain't She Sweet, I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover, Happy Days are Here Again, and Charleston. For an international flair, the pasodoble El Relicario and the medley Italian Fiesta will provide contrast to the elegant Sibelius signature, Finlandia.
A new publication of melodies from World War II will be performed. Marche des Parachutistes Belges follows suit. From the movie Casablanca comes As Time Goes By. Music from Exodus will be featured, along with a Viennese style waltz.
In honor of the upcoming season, the band will offer You Gotta Be a Football Hero.
